This is always a really great event for experienced hunters and newbies alike. No matter how hard we try its always a struggle to really replicate what that first hunt of the year is going to be like with your dog. After many years of hunting with a dog in the Skagit Valley this is about as close as it comes to a true field hunt!!! Every year before the season since my first with a dog, a few of us would gather together and train our dogs like we were hunting. It has evolved over the years and has become this event and it is one I look forward to every year.
When: Sept. 14th from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Lunch from noon to 1:00 PM.

Once you've bought your tickets we will email you a sign up for a time slot to run your dog(s) so be sure to use a valid email with your PayPal checkout. The cost is $100 per dog/handler team. This includes two live shot pigeons, 4 dead duck retrieves and two shackled duck (live bird) retrieves. Dogs previously or currently in training with us will recieve a 25% off discount!!!
What: There will be two mock hunts, replicating a field and pond hunt. You may bring your own shotgun if you like but we will have some available. All equipment, ammo and birds are included with your ticket purchase!!!
Field Hunt: Replicating a field hunt out of layout blinds and a dog blind. We will be setting up a mixed spread of snow geese and dark geese with two live shot pigeons and two dead duck retrieves. The live shot pigeons will be thrown out of pop boxes about 30 yard away in the decoys and shot from the Layout Blinds replicating birds landing in the spread. There will also be two dead bird retrieves at this setup, they will be similar to Hunt Test Marks, two stations will "quack" to get the dogs attention and then throw a dead duck.
Water/Land Hunt: Replicating a pond hunt for puddle ducks from a panel blind with two water retrieves utilizing dead ducks as well as a blind retrieve. This station will also have two replicated crippled birds where your dog will get the chance to pick up a live shackled duck on land.
We will take a 1 hour lunch break to have hotdogs (included with tickets) and hangout and share plans for the upcoming hunting season!!!
